The Christmas Box originally appeared as a gift, a father's Christmas present to his daughter. The author, Paul Evans, was an advertiser and one day he had the idea to give one of his daughters a special Christmas present. He realized that people were slowly forgetting the meaning of Christmas and turning it into a day of revelry. In his eyes, Christmas was a time for family, a time for stories. He decided to write a Christmas story for his daughter, and the result was "The Christmas Box".
